Gleneagles Golf Course Needs Our Support

Another public golf course is on the verge of closing.

Gleneagles Golf course, perhaps the most difficult course in the area, is fighting to stay open and could use our help.  This hard scrabble course located in McClaren Park, near the Cow Palace, has everything a golfer could look for. It is difficult, it has uneven lies, difficult greens to read, is a tough walk and a joy to play.

Gleaneagles is in a battle with the City over water usage.  It appears that their water meters feed the entire park. They are seeking a more favorable lease or face closure.

We can show our support by attending a public hearing on Thursday July 17th at city hall in San Francisco or writing an email/ letter of support to saturdayintheparkmclaren@gmail.com

As we all know, tee times at public golf courses, at least the ones under $80, are difficult to come by.  This closure will only impact this problem even further.

Support public golf, write a note, after all, it is what we do.
