Executive Summary

The Poplar Creek Golf Club is dedicated to working for the betterment of the Poplar Creek Golf course. The club will cooperate fully with the authority of the City of San Mateo in the care of the new golf course facilities. We also commit ourselves to promote good will and courtesy, meshing our club member interest with public interest.

We will furnish members of the Poplar Creek Golf Club the opportunity to participate in scheduled tournaments held by our organization, golf associations and other related golf events, as well as encourage a social environment.

We the Poplar Creek Golf Club, intend to invest our time and energy to assure that we represent the level of the highest standards.

We plan to provide our members easy access to handicap data, membership enrollments, on-line access to score posting, tournament data and upcoming golf and social events.

Club Mission Statement

The Poplar Creek Golf Club, (formerly The San Mateo Golf Club), founded in 1933 will continue its mission to provide an organization dedicated to excellence. We expect to grow in membership and provide the San Mateo Women’s Club and Junior golf leagues our cooperation and support.

Although we will maintain traditional practice in accordance with the NCGA, we will explore new methods and procedures connected to on-line technologies to maintain our preeminent position.

Our time and efforts will afford our members the spirit of golf as it was intended providing the game, the camaraderie, the challenges and rewards of the game.

Club Goals and Objectives

To carry out our Club mission, Poplar Creek Golf Club will pursue the following goals:

  • Increase awareness and perception of the Cub’s direction to our present members and potential members through on-line web site, newsletter and other publications.
  • Focus on the market segments of golf merchandise, awards planning and other incentives related to tournament functions.
  • Invest in new technologies connected to accounting systems for membership dues, tournament fees, and other potential revenue streams from other private industry sources.
